Is my horn sucking my battery or could it have been the old battery cables.

Recently, my car was not holding charge. I changed out my battery cables and disconnected my horn and now the car works like a champ.

Im just wondering if it was the battery cables or the horn that was the culprit to my issues.

Horn was connected straight to the + terminal with a fuse to a generic button inside of the car and grounded as well.

how could I figure this out with my volt meter?

I'm not sure how to do it with a meter, something to do with testing without the horn connected and then connect the horn and watch for a draw of power. I just don't know where you would connect the meter. But as I mentioned before know that you know the battery holds charge overnight, now hook up the horn overnight and see if it drains the battery. Maybe you could ask the gal in your siginature about how to hook up the meter.

I would think that if it was the horn, you wouldn't be so popular with the neighbors.

Wouldn't it be possible to have a low current drain in the horn circuit that doesn't set off the horn ? A dead short can happen anywhere. If it was before the horn connector tho I don't think pulling the horn connector would tell you. Pulling the fuse for the horn would narrow it down to that circuit plus anything else run through that fuse.
