Is my tranny on its way out?

I'm getting a kind of "whirring" noise that varies with rpm. Happens in all gears, most noticable in 1st and 2nd. Clutch and tranny both have 73k miles on them, but clutch doesn't slip. Throwout bearing has been a little noisy for a while now.

Sounds like its coming from right under the shifter so I dont think its the rear end. Ive heard a bad rear end, this aint it.

make sure your tranny has the right level of oil.

mine whines pretty bad too, how often should you change tranny fluid??
