Nitrous is legal for off road use only.

Also, it is very easily spotted by LEOs in most cases.

I believe you can have the bottle in a car aslong as the valve is shut. I don't understand why people have this hate on for nitrous when so many other cars have either a turbo or S/C and that is just a power adder like nitrous.

No sir, its not street legal, but if the bottle's in the trunk, i don't really see how a LEO could really see much or even know unless you purge when he walks up to your window

What about a CA visual smog check...can you pass if they see the lines under the hood? CA has some really gay laws...

they dont even pop the hood here in TX during your inspection

you can conceal the nitrous lines pretty well under the hood if you're that worried about it. Most states allow you to have nitrous on the street as long as the bottle isnt connected to the lines. If the bottle is in the trunk, no LEO is going to see it

But no, its not legal to spray on the street. Whos going to know though?

the kit must have a CARB EO number to be legal in CA. also the bottle must be completely disconnected when on the street. if you have a remote opener, it must be set to closed and must not be within reach of the driver.

Just move to FL. They dont give a crap about anything. NO2, no problem. Open headers, no problem.
But the local hiway patrol guys get work done at the same shop I get tuned at.

Cop + Supercharged LS1 = Big problem.

Nice to see where my taxes go.

It's legal here:
as long as it's vented (with return line) and something else too... but that slips my mind...

If you think of it its the same as diesel trucks running propane injection.

But in short it is legal here to run on the street... (not sure about USING it on the street but thats another story altogether...)

So it sounds like alot depends on where you are. You guys in CA have it tough. You guys in FL have it great. I would settle for in between. Anyone from CT.

The NOS (the company) dry kit is the only kit I know of for mustangs that has an EO number. Sorry guys, it's for 5.0's though.

Here is the link for the CARB database in case anyone in CA needs to look up any EO numbers for smog:
