Is The 50th Edition Going To Be Available In 2013 As 2014 Model?

We all know the Mustang came out in the spring of 64, but lately I have been hearing and reading that the new stang will be available in 2014 as a 2015 model, which would differ from all of the previous anniversary editions.

Is there any official words from Ford on this?
What would you rather see, a 2014 model in 2013 or a 2015 model in 2014?

The 50th anniversary Mustang will be a 2015 model year and it will be all new. Everything I have read indacates that Ford plans on debuting the 2015 Mustang exactly 50 years to the day after the introduction of the original Mustang. If that is the case then it will go on sale April 17, 2014.

I feel like they will just unveil it 50 years to the date not neccessarily pt it out for sale yet....will probably take orders and maybe around xmas time or february for it to actually be out on the streets.

I guess that's possible but Ford has a history of selling model year cars during the prior year. In addition the the '65 Mustang being sold in April '64 the '03 Cobras were available in June of '02, the 2011 Mustang went on sale in May of 2010 and the '13 Mustangs have been available for a least a month. Given their history I don't see why they wouldn't do the the same with the 2015 ,especially since they want to capitalize as much as possible on the 50th anniv.

Actually the Mustang sold April of 64 was considered a 64 1/2 model. I don't see why a 2015 model wont be available spring 2014. They can cut the 2014 model short after the Job 2 production has ended.

so the 64 and a half mustang was shown in april or was able to be purchased in april of 64?

Officially there is no such thing as a 1964-1/2 Mustang they were 1965 model year cars. The 1964 1/2 designation came later and was the creation of Mustang enthusiasts to differentiate between the early 65's which were built between March 1964 and August 17, 1964 and the later cars built after August 17, 1964 . There are differences that are important to collectors for example all early 1965s came with generators; late 1965s came with alternators. The engine choices were different and the 2+2 fastback was added. In many ways they were very different cars but as far as Ford was concerned they were all 1965s model year cars and they have 1965 vin's. Don't believe me though, Google it

Kwiktse they were available to be purchased on April 17, 1964 Ford claims they sold 22,000 Mustangs on that day alone. I think they were 1st shown earlier that month at the NY World's Fair.

I think Ford is just plain confused and focused on marketing. Everything being said makes sense, but why was the 2009 a 45th Anniversary edition, shouldn't it have been the 2010?

The 45th anniversary should have been 2010. Ford just got it wrong. I have seen so many companies incorrectly mark anniversaries of the Mustang that it is almost laughable. The Mustang did debut at the New York World's Fair in April 1964. Ford called all of them 1965 models though the first had generators and the latter 1965 models had alternators. There are several differences in the cars though, again, Ford called them all 1965. I saw a company once sell pins that said Ford Mustang 1964-1994, 30 years. Well, count it on your fingers if you must, that's actually 31 years of cars. The 2015 model will actually be the 50th anniversary but the 51st Mustangd. (The first came out in 1964 and was called a 1965. The second year was a 1966 and was the first anniversary but the SECOND Mustang). It gets confusing but really isn't if you stop and think about it.
Ford at one time recognized an anniversary over two model years. I can't remember which years off the top of my head. I believe 2012 Mustang production ended in 2011. The 2013 Mustangs are out though this is still 2012. No 2012 Mustangs were made in 2012, only 2013.
Who wouldn't be confused?
Let's all agree that the 50th anniversary Mustang will be a 2015 and I am willing to bet my 1966 convertible it will be out in April (if not before) of 2014.
Now, if only the Mustang Club of America would have one 50th anniversary show instead of two, all would be good.

As far as I'm concerned, up until now, all of the anniversary editions have been celebrated on years ending in 4 and 9. I had a 2004 40th Anniversary Edition which I purchased in August of 2003. I just don't see why they would want to change it now. I remember reading a while back that the plan was to always release a new car on the year of the anniversary (like in 94 and 99), but for some reason they couldn't come up with S-197 in time for the 40th anniversary. It looks like they fell behind on schedule once again.

Some were. Not a lot but some. Mine was manufactured on Jan 11 2012. But yeah. Everything else you said was right on.
