Does anybody know if its possible to add the Nav and basically the whole unit into a 2011 (or newer) after the fact. suppose you found one in a salvage yard. Is it easy to swap out or is there a lot to it? I love the idea of having the computer/Nav etc. But I HATE the idea of paying 2K for it.
go spend a couple hundred on a good garmin and call it a day
I should change what I was looking for........I got a GPS in my phone. its not even the GPS I'm after, I just like having the touch screen, and I hear it will give you weather, movie times etc (all stuff my phone can do) but it can also play DVD's (I think) and most importantly I think it looks cool....and I would rather use that to play my music. I can always buy something after market with a bigger screen but I don't know if it would still work with SYNC and not sure how I would have it installed.......doesn't look like there is even room for it.
For what I bought my mustang for it wouldn't of done me any good. I drive it on the normal to work and back, that's all. Heck ppl around town only seen my car a few times, the first time I actually went to a public event they were trying to hit me up to join the bay county mustang club, it's like thanks' but no thanks. I only got all the bells and whistles on my car because of the deal I got for it. My ford dealership wouldn't budge on the price barely, wanted me to pay 34K for a 2011 GT premium with a msrp of 35.3, I ended up paying 34.5K for a car that msrp'd at 38.5K (comfort package, rapid spec 401a, gt appearance package 5, premium). My car's just a DD, I have my suv for the dvd's and all that stuff for trips.
I hear what your saying.....This car will be my baby, and I want to be 100% happy with it. I love all the electronic goodies.
I have seen wrecked mustangs with a NAV system in it. Is it plug and Play or is there a lot more to it....in other words if I really want it should I just look for the mustang that already has one in it?
I feel the same way with the HID headlights. I will research if that is an easy add on or not. I'm guessing I can do it. And save $900 over having the factory install it.
best way to do it if you haven't purchased a car yet, is find a car on a lot near you have all the options you want but don't play it up with the dealer. Just haggle him, don't let your ppl know that the electronic package is what you're after. It reminds me of a story from when me and my wife first got married. I was looking at 2001 i think it was trans am firehawk limited edition convertible. I was going to trade in my 99 trans am for it, and wife opened up her mouth talking about how the price wasn't that bad so the salesman wouldn't budge once he knew she was satisfied with the car. Needless to say I kept it for another year. Hopefully you dealt with buying cars b4, the first time was a learning experience for me, and the best i can say is after realizing what they pulled on me I learned from it, my face looked about like thisas they raped me. You live you learn, and if you can't learn there isn't much that's going to help someone. Basically, find the car with an electronic package you want. If you're trying to save a couple bucks search the web for a 2011 if you're looking new. Normally best to get the previous year for the savings but not always, especially in my case this time.
I totally agree with what your saying....and that is what I plan to do (just get the car with everything I want the first time) I only thought of it because I found one at a great price and the only thing it was missing was NAV (when I say that...I mean the whole thing that comes with it) If it was an easy swap I would go for it.......Ill just sit tight till the one I really want comes along. I'm in no rush.....as long as I have it by next summer
The important thing is that your future Mustang has everything you want!PM me your ZIP code and some important features (color, coupe/convertible, etc.) and I'll be happy to help look.

Subject says it all. Is the 2K in the electronics package worth the cost?
I'm a little worried about the hard drive crashing and taking my radio out with it.
Thoughts?
Thanks!
I didn't know the 2013 was OUT. I thought it was coming.
But even then, the 2013 Mustang will be available in early 2012??? And I assume production is either over or soon will be for the 2012 yet it is still 2011. And I confused or is Ford?
This is 2011, isn't it??????
