Is there a t-56 kit that will work on a 5.0 and 4.6L?

Okay, so i'd REALLY like to someday make my 5.0 into my dream 5.0.

That would be IRS, 6-spd, 03/04 Cobra engine.


I've decided to work in stages starting with located and installing an IRS over the winter.

Is there a 6-spd kit that I can install behind my 5.0 engine and later on change the bellhousing so i can run it behind the 4.6L?

I assume no since the bellhousing is actually part of the t-56 correct? So i guess i'll have to wait and do the engine/trans together? Hmm...

Holy crap...i thought I posted this in the 5.0 forum. I didn't intend to put it in 4.6! If a mod reads this, can you kick it over to 5.0 talk please!


Can't do it all now. I gotta spread this project out over a little bit of time. Right now i'm just going IRS and installing the suspension (coil overs) and brake mods (2000 R kit) I have on my Fox and restoring some stuff on it. Plus i want to buy a jet-ski this winter

Driveline will come later once i decide it's def what I want to do

Yea D&D is pretty sweet! I called them about the t-56 a while back(from the big sandbox no less) abd they for real were all like " Dude this is what you need to swap it and no b.s. here's a clutch for way cheaper than anywhere else". Well something like that. They offered everything needed and a clutch for real cheap. And they didn't even complain about the lapse in response from being on different sides of the planet(most companies told me to call back once i was back in the states).

But is it interchangable? I know the bolt pattern on the blocks are different. if i buy one now and toss it behind my 5.0, what will need to change to put it behind a 4.6L?

you will need a different bellhousing. the trans is the same
