Is there a.....

I picked mine up from a local motorcycle shop. It was last years model and marked down quite a bit. If I recall right it was a $280.00 helmet marked down to about $140.00. Don't go too cheap, some of the cheapers helmets are not rated very well and don't carry a NHRA legal cert..

don't you get kicked out even if you do have a helmet and stuff... it's a thing dealing with you changing your class...

besides i don't think they'll make a big deal out of it AND i am sure someone would let you use theirs

i'm not particularly happy with speedware motorsports... altho they are not going to be welding the helmet onto your head, so you could try looking for one there...

however if you do decide to have it welded, then don't do it there

I heard 13.99 requires a helmet, and when you get off the track and pick up your slip I guess they're gonna draw an X on your car, so they know not to let you run unless you have a helmet. I wish I could run a 14.3 or so. Wont be a problem if I swap heads and whatnot. =/

Bent Bike usually has some screamin' deals on helmets.

As for when a helmet is required, this is copied from the NHRA website:

"A helmet is required for the driver of any car or truck running 13.99 seconds or quicker in the quarter mile, and for the rider of any motorcycle. Most drivers can use a helmet meeting SNELL M85, M90, M95, SA85, SA90, SA95 or K98 specifications. Professional category and some alcohol burning vehicles require an SA rated helmet. It is important to note that the helmet rating must be designated on a tag INSIDE the helmet, or sewn to one of the helmet straps. The designation stenciled on the exterior of the helmet is insufficient for NHRA technical inspection. Also, some tracks require a helmet on ALL drivers, so check in advance."

Not that it will effect any Mustang owners, but Russell Stevens also told me that drivers of t-top cars will be required to wear a helmet this year also.
