Hey guys. I met some guy over the weekend that said he has a 03 Cobra motor and trans for sale. He said he would sell it to me for $2500, that is motor and tranny with less than 2k miles on it. Does this sound like a deal or or could something be wrong with this guy? I am very interested in buying it. Just not sure if this is a fair price. It is a complete motor from oil pan to alternator. I am looking to put this in a foxbody or if I can find a newer stang for cheap put it in it.

I know these motors put out alot of horsepower for being stock. Are these really high 11 sec motors or do the magazines make them seem faster?

Yeah, thats a fair price I would say as long as its in good running order. www.stangparts.com sell them for about $4,500 +.

Yea he swears that nothing is wrong with it. My only thing about buyimg it is I cant hear it run plus I will not actually have it in a car for 6 months. He says the tranny is in perfect condition too.

Yeah and I've got ocean front property in Oklahoma for sale too. That motor is either stolen or damaged goods. The only other explanation would be the seller doesn't know what he has! Motor + T56 for $2500?

How would I find out if it is stolen? I am going to look at it this weekend. I am gonna look at it and see if anything visable is wrong with them.
Several of my buddy's were telling me if I don't buy it they will. lol

Well I got a chance to go by and look at the motor/tranny today. It looks brand new. I am gonna take a chance on this guy and buy the stuff. I talked to a couple people and they say he is honest and wouldn't sell me junk. Hopefully I can get it installed in the next few months. The only issue I am seeing is that damn "pats" system. I was told I can get a chip for around $300 to bypass it. Anyone ever tried doing this swap before?

Well if the motor turns out to be OK and doesn't have any internal damage...

YOU GOT ONE HELL OF A DEAL! CONGRATS!

So what are you going to install this motor in? Are you getting the stock ECM to go along with this motor & trans? I'm trying to figure out why you're worried about the PATS? Yes the PATS can be disabled with an aftermarket chip.

This '03 motor & trans for $2500 still has me scratchin' my head though.... If it is undamaged with only 2K on it as the seller is stating... it's worth more than double that amount!

The only reason I am worried about the PATS is that I am putting it in my 90 GT. The newer fords have that sensor in the key and the older ones don't. I know the car will have no injector pulse or something without the pats disabled. I found a place that will burn a chip for around 300 to solve the problem. I was at our Ford dealer today and a guy there said he can fix it. I will have to get a computer and wiring harness for it though. I guess if I buy a aftermarket ecm I may not have to worry about the pats.

The guy at Ford is going to go down and check it out for me friday. He said he will pretty much know if it is a good motor or not. And said he will check to see where it came from too.

Is there a way to run a ID # on the block to see if it was stolen? Hate for you to buy a engine and get it confiscated as stolen goods!
