So today I was bored and decided to unbolt my stock h-pipe from the mufflers so exhaust was going through everything but the mufflers and tailpipes. Sounds kinda cool. Can I leave it like this for now? I am planning on an h-pipe pretty soon and maybe some magnaflows, but will this wreck anything. The mufflers aren't banging off anything or touching anything.

It will cause excess play in the exhaust components which could lead to premature failure of the exhaust hangers and rubber insulators.

I would not do it for more than a couple weeks if I were you.

You're probably ok.. worst case you'll get some drooping.. your catback might get a little loose and smack in to the underbody on a hard bump, but maybe not. Just do the h-pipe swap man

Watch out over bumps, you don't want that sh|t bumping around. Maybe you could zip tie them out of the way

What are you going to do about the front O2 sensors? This may cause you some problems.

Yeah, but I can see where he is coming from. When I first got my stang, I tinkered the crap out of it. I had to have a reason to work on it, while waiting for parts to arrive, and I did the same thing. It's just fun!

Ha, thanks for the input guys. To tell the truth, it sounds not great, but good. I mean, I am not some idiot, I have grown up around hot rods, and I was surprised that it sounded this good. I am getting an h-pipe from a guy this weekend I think. I actually got a compliment from a guy about the sound and when I told him what I was planning on doing with the exhaust, he thought I should leave it like it is and just take the mufflers and tailpipes off completely. I am still going with a catless h-pipe though.
