I bought an A trim used over the summer which the kid ripped me off and the front ebaring was shot soo oil leaked badly from the pulley.... vortech rebuilt the blower and replaced the case for 550... from when i got it back, i noticed an abnormal sound at idle... sounds like theres rocks in my blower!! Vortech is telling me that it is normal and all of their blowers are noisy like that,... i can understand a whine.. but.. woa this thing sounds like garbage!! i am making as much boost as i should, but at an idle, it just sounds nasty!! anything off idle will whine real nice, but once it comes down to an idle, youll see... check out the video.. ull hear it the most right after i revved it

That's the good ole Vortech straight cut gear......very normal. The Prochargers aren't too far behind that....

The A-trims are different inside (shaft and bearings) then the S-trims although most OLD S-trims I hear sound similar. YOur right most A-trims are very, very noisy.

You'll see a trend that Vortech is making more of there blowers with the helical cut gears, which are stronger and quieter....

doesnt sound like my SC-trim at all.... mine has a loud whistle at idle that sounds like crickets. Maybe the A-Trim is built differently?? Other than that if Vortech put it together, I wouldnt worry about it...

The SC-trim has helical cut gears, so it should be quieter, stronger as well!

Just listened to it Joe, sounds normal to me. If your comparing it from what my car sounds like, the dont, im using Noisey Timing gears which multiply the blower noise 10times...that always an option if you want that sound.

Why laugh? It's a proven fact.... they wear quicker then a good timing set and chain or belt also. I would not worry about it, your numbers are fine I didn't say it robbed a lot of power but it does rob power.
