Can these water passages be cleaned up?

If you lay a fresh intake gasket over the water passage, you should be able to see where the gasket will seal to the intake, and where there is no contact between the intake and gasket. You may have to build up the water jacket outlet walls, for sealing purposes.

My question is "How did this happen?"
Do the rest of the passages look as corroded?
Or did someone "port" the watter passage?

I don't know if they ported it or not, I'm guessing yes since the rest of the intake is ported.

I'm kind of a moron with some things. What do you mean by blow through.

Interesting that only one side of the manifold was affected.
 
Oh.... That makes it more intersting. Is there a performance shop around your area? You might be able to take it to them for advice.

If all else fails, you can still hit up ebay for an explorer lower.
 
Still not sure what you meant by blow through. I am guessing there was a head gasket problem?

If that is the case then you may want to look at the heads, they could have the same kind of damage as well.

Before getting too carried away with getting it fixed, buy a fresh gasket and see if it will seal up. It looks to me like it may still have enough surface area to seal. Also, be sure to check that surface for flatness.
Was there a water leak before the manifold was pulled?

If the gasket will seal, then clean it up, and keep running it. A good coolant mix will help prevent further damage.
 
You should be able to country boy fix it.

Clean it up to clean aluminum in that area, and get some metal filled epoxy filler material, making sure it will handle some heat.

Fill the area, and carefully surface it with a flat file.

Pita, but I did this to an Edelbrock Performer on my old Bronco in exactly that spot. Worked fine for 10,000 more miles.
