Is this hopeless?

i havent tried to do anything the hard way yet. just trying to figure out the easy way, but it doesnt seem like there is one.

the little claw tool got caught in there and in the process of breaking it free, it broke the claw line and bent the little arms. now the wrench has fallen off the ledge in the oil pan so even a new claw will be hopeless at grabbing it.

maybe ill go out later and try, right now i think im heading to autotrader.

Sleep on it - a little patience and then come back to it. You'll get it.

By the way - you've learned a valuable lesson. From now on you'll used duct tape, or actually stuff rags in the openings. I predict never again will a dropped tool, nut, bolt find it's way to the netherlands of your engine. Hang in there - this too shall pass. And, it wasn't the cars fault - but I guess you know that by now.
