Gasket is on upside down. The little hooks hooks to the head gasket. Don't use the cork gasket, it has a tendency to slide and more around and causes oil leakes.
This maybe just me but I usually trim that little bit of material around the bolt in the water port area. It is not mating against anything so why is it there?
I sometimes cut off the part that hooks on the hg to allow the gasket to slide
one way or the other for better port adjustment
If I do cut off the tabs ... I put one little dab of RTV toward the front and rear
of each gasket to just hold it in place until I can lower down the intake
I rarely do use any kind gasket sealer on any gasket
I DO use the cork China Wall gaskets
and
This is one place I do make an exception on a sealer for gaskets
I glue those cork gaskets to the China Wall tops with yellow 3M
weather stripping adhesive
A pea sized dab of RTV in the China Wall corners is done as well
I use a piece of all-thread you find at the hardware store to lower
down the intake to help not disturb the gaskets
I cut off four six inch sections and screw each one in the next to last
hole on each corner
Also ... You need to tighten the entire sequence of bolts many times
until they arrive at an even tightness
Lastly ... after two heat cycles ... You W I L L have several bolts that
did N O T keep their tightness the same as you put them before the
two heat cycles
I trimmed the gasket to match the ports of the head. If i left the gasket untrimmed, a couple of the ports would have been only 3/4 visible. Anyone have this happen?
