So, did the hood latch rip out of the hood? I am wondering since I also have a fiberglass hood and cannot decided if I want pins or not....but if stuff is breaking like that, I will be putting in pins.

this is where people will laugh

the 4 bungee cords and twine didnt hold.....

go ahead, tell me what i already know....

Southern ingenuity (politically correct term)
:rlaugh:

At least you are man enough to say what happened, my hats off to you on that point.

Let's get this straight... you were driving it somewhere that would exceed over an hour and you were attempting to hold it shut with bungee cords (aka big elastic bands) and "twine"?

OK. So the bungee method does not work. What about the hood latch? Do they tear out of the fiberglass? I know that most recommend hood pins but no one comes right out and says that they are required.

Never ever use a glass hood without pins unless it is a FULL metal framed piece.

well, i WOULD NOT use a hood latch with it, no way no how, way to flimsy to be held from one center point. The hinge would just bolt through fiberglass and no metal, so i wouldnt trust it, hood pins is the only way i would go...

you gonna be at the Autorama show this weekend? I will be there all three days. I will have my 68 in the show. The stock looking gold one (nicknamed Goldmember). If you see a short guy with a mullet, that's me. Make sure to introduce yourself.
