I started up my car today for the first time!!! The reason I started a new thread is because I wanted my question to get a little more attention. I'm not sure if this belongs in tech or not so sorry if its in the wrong spot. My progress thread is here http://forums.stangnet.com/769520-started-engine-rebuild.html

It sounds amazing except for a couple things need to be fixed. The back 2 cylinders on the passenger side are running really lean. The headers were glowing red after running a little over 5 min and the exhaust was popping really bad when it revved up. Could the injectors be stuck? I bought them used and they looked kinda dirty. After I started it back up after running it for the first time it was flooded and there was raw fuel coming out of the exhaust. What can I do to the injectors? Any help is appreciated.

All I have left to do to it is get the injectors fixed and some other small things. I have to put a vacuum fitting in the intake for the brakes and adjust the clutch and thats pretty much it and it should be on the road soon. I'll get a sound clip of the exhaust soon for yall to hear it, it sounds amazing.

okay i'll give it a shot...

if you bought the fuel injectors used did you check the o-rings and pintle caps? the o-rings can be split or dry-rotted and the pintle caps have very fine screens in them that can be clogged, restricting fuel flow or just screwing things up in general... if i were you i'd pull them and check them out, a rebuild kit for them can be found online or possibly from a Ford dealership for relatively cheap (as in cheaper than a new set of injectors), good luck man

Chris :nice:

the pintle caps don't have screens in them but there is a filter basket on the top end of the injectors. they might be gummed up inside, before you pull anything, trying running a concentrated amount of b12 chemtool or something similar in your gas.
