one of my good friends was in a car wreck today. he was driving down a country road, veered off the road, over corrected, lost control, rolled a few times and hit a tree. he's now in the ICU with 3 broken vertabrae, and just all around jacked up. he slipped into a coma for a few hours when he arrived at the hospital. doctors say he might be paralyzed from the waist down. here's the kicker, he's only 17 years old. guys, please please please be careful when youre on the road. this news really hit me like a sack of bricks to the face.
its crazy how stuff goes down somtimes.

wow that would be really bad. thankfully i wasnt going fast. my ex-friend was going to fast in his beretta and went through the woods and tore it into 3 pieces, one of which was in a tree. he had a lacerated kidney and a few scratches. ill keep him in mind and hope he isnt paralyzed man

yeah hes unfortunately in that "invinicble" age range. I remember doin stupid stuff like that. I was lucky nothing like that happend to me. But hey it could happen to anyone really. Everything happens for a reason i guess. Really sorry to hear that about your friend man

Luck is definitely the only reason I'm still here. I did so many stupid things when I was younger and attributed them to skill.
But I've also been through a lot medically, and nobody deserves to be paralyzed. At least, not for making a mistake in a car in your teens. Let us know how he does. This may sound cheezy, but I had to learn how to walk again once...not that it compares with paralysis, but I never mind talking to people, if they want somebody to talk to. A lot of people were there for me to help me through some times, so I try to repay the favor to others.

he went in for surgery yesterday. everything was looking very good. it turned out his spinal cord was not severed, only pierced by a piece of shattered vertabrae. so he gets outta surgery and hes doing good, moving his arms under his control. then i get a phone call today and they say one of his lungs collapsed. i havent heard anything new yetAmBo said:Derek, sorry to hear.
