jack stand locations

I'm putting my car up on jack stands tonight and have never done that before. It's a 2007 Mustang, and I'm unsure where the best spot is to put them. I'm doing it so that I can take the wheels in for new tires.

Any advice would be great -- thanks!

Either side on the back axle shafts. I use the engine cross-member at the front using wood or carpet to protect the paint. The important thing is to ensure the car is stable when you jack the other end. May be better to do it two at a time as I don't like having a car off the floor on 4 jackstands as the car can move and tip when you jack it and it's not worth the risk of the car falling if you ask me. 4 wheels take up a lot of space too!

I use a trolley jack on the axle pumpkin and use a piece of wood at the front to spread the load across the cross-member.

Unfortunately, I have to take all four at once due to the distance of the tire shop. However, I'm going to keep the jack under the rear end and a smaller one at the front while I'm away from the car. Which end do you suggest raising first? I'll of course chock the wheels of the down end.

A little nervous, but I think I can do it.

I suggest taking the front end up first with the E-brake set.

You are using jack stands right? If not I do not recommend leaving your car up on the jack itself.
