I am installing a cat back on my 99GT
I have searched this forum for the correct
areas to jack up the rear end.

I have seem the diagrams, but I have a rear trailing arm
in the way of me getting the jack on each side of the
rear axle. Is there a better spot? Can I jack in the rear diff,
just to get the jack stands under it?

Thanks!

I can't get it up......ok that didn't sound right.

There should be two areas you can reach from the sides without having to go around the rear axle to jack it up. It's a little hard to describe but if you know where the side scoops are on the car, it should be just under them on the under side of the car.

You can try jacking it up by the rear diff. even though the instruction manual from Ford tells you not to. I've done this once myself and I've seen some other guy do it on my car at a garage without problems.

put the jack under the shock mounting point and lift up each side there. Put your jack stands on each side of the axle tube. Don't get under the car with just one jack under the center diff.

Put the jack under the differential housing and lift away. Manuals will tell you not to do it, but people have been doing it for decades without any problems.

Im with GinoGT. I always jack up under the pumpkin. Then i put jackstands on either side of it for stability. Easier to jack up the back than the front in these cars.

if you jack up by the diff, make sure u put the jack under the actual pumpkin, and not just the differential cover.

Yep. I have to jack my Roush up like that when I change the oil or clean the bottom of it. Always use jack stands......
