JBA Shorty Header Dyno Results

Anyone have any dyno numbers for JBA shorty headers? I searched but did not find anything.

I know long-tubes are better, but I need smog legal.

Either n/a or blown results would rule!

Nah but i have them on my car. Wish i knew how much they gave me too. And blower results will give a higher number than N/A, if you didn't know. But i see you're blown so thats why u must not care. Gotcha

One of my friends with a Mach is putting on the JBA shorties in afew weeks. I'm very curious as to what he gains with them. He gonna get it dynotuned also afterwards. Right now it's almost stock with the exception of Flowmaster 40's and a C@L Tru Flo system. He's claiming they say 22HP gain. I don't believe that. The website says 9HP gain. I think IF he gets 9HP that he should be jumping for joy.

9rwhp out of the jba would be great. 22 is in no way happening. there was a guy who posted up his numbers for long tubes and he got 20rwhp. i only gained 15rwhp from my l/t.

he might get 7rwhp.

with the blower man, you will make alot more. i dont know how much. id assume atleast what l/t na make. 15 rwhp maybe.

I think 7 to 9 rhwp sounds about right.

I saw an article in 5.0 Magazine about 1 year ago where they dyno tested the BBK shorties on a n/a 2V with PI heads & manifold. If I remember, they gained about 8 rwhp peak but the losses below 4200 rpm were so severe I am not sure the car would actually be any faster. So I wondered if the JBA design would fair any better.

I saw about 12 RWHP and 10 RWTQ peak gains substituting a set of JBA's for my stock manifolds. The bigger and more important gains as far as I'm concerned were the ones under the curve. I can post before and after dyno runs when I get home tonight if you want.

If the JBA shorty header for a Mustang is anything like the JBA shorty header for a TBird, I would pass on it and look for something else. The JBA shorty for a TBird is famous for cracking, is smaller than the stock manifold.

Not exactly the same. My JBA's were very nice, were 1 5/8 in dia. (GT JBA shortys are 1 1/2 dia), had minimal welding slag inside, and came with a titanium coating.

Back when I bought mine I saw several dyno sheets, all were 7-10 rwhp increases at the peak. Like Uncle Meat said, the biggest gains were across the board.

A worthwhile mod, even though everyone on this site always talks badly about shorties.

First off let me say that the only mod added between the two runs displayed below were a set of the JBA 1625-7JB's and an AFR adjustment in the tune to compensate.

I have them on my Lightning. They are not the best hp/$. The gain is so small I can't feel it. The Lightning forums say they are worth 5-10 hp....if that. The 5.4 aren't a whole lot different so i would assume that the results are similar.

i don't have a dyno, but i gained .2 tenths and 1.5mph a long time ago with the blower.

UM, so that dyno is showing a gain of almost 15rwhp with the shorty headers? Thats nice if so!

EDIT: I just read a few posts up. 12rwhp. damn nice =) I got my JBA shorties for free and installed them myself. Guess that was worth the 20 hour hassle of installing them!!

that seems like a ton for shortys. i only picked up like 8 peak rwtq with l/t.

that was peak though. under the curve was sick, i posted the gains above.

Yup. Most '03 Cobra's come with them stock.

As for those terrific gains keep in mind the graph represents the installed headers PLUS a tweeked tune to take advantage of them.

Not jba's but my FRPP shorties and UD's picked up 20rwhp peak versus stock pulleys and stock manifolds. Personally I didn't beleive I would see that much. I also picked up power across the board. And it made the car alot more fun to drive. Plus they weigh ALOT less. just a huge pita to install.

oh that makes alot more sense, i didnt know you had an 03 cobra. they say that once you have a blower there is not much difference between shortys and l/t
