today when i was out driving and slowing down my 88 5.0 (5spd) it started jerking. i was in second and starting to come to a stop. it doesnt do it in any other gear except a little bit in 3rd. and it only does it when slowing down.

i also noticed that it almost feels like the throttle is getting stuck when im accelerating. i dont think its the clutch slipping,(doesnt feel like it at least) its like a "hesitation" after depressing the accelerator.

it has not done this before ever. anyone have any ideas?

so when you have your foot on the brake your foot is not on the clutch?

are you serious? low rpm's with the car still in gear coming to a stop will ALWAYS result in bucking/jerking. why even downshift when coming to a stop? just put the car in neutral. car was going to slow to be in that gear. bucking/jerking when coming to a stop will result in stalling out if you dont put your foot in on the clutch. common sense.

correct me if i misunderstood what you originally said.

no, i think i confused everyone. i know it will buck and jerk if im slowing down in low gear etc. let me see if i can explain this better.

ok lets see here...

for example i was going through the parking lot at about 2K RPM and in second gear and just on the gas a little and it jerks like crazy. and thats never happend before at all.

also in addition to what i posted above, when i first turn on the car on now the RPMs fluctuate from like 550-1000 like 4-5 times then settles out at normal RPM range(around 800 or so, give or take some). this is starting to frustrate me.

anyone have any idea now?

Pull the codes. Check alternator output. How old is the fuel filter?

If you MUST jerk it in your car... I guess doing it at low RPMs is best?

i knew this was cumming. ANYWAYS...

ill check the codes. i got a buddy with a reader. i thought maybe it could be the alternator(dont know if its ever been replaced/serviced in the 132K miles that are on the car). i will also check out the fuel filter, i dont think that has been changed either. anyways, thanks for the helping everyone.

keep the posts coming

I had the same problem with my 88gt when I would start it the rpms would jump around about 4 or 5 times before it evened out, I replaced the idle control valve and it fixed the problem.
