Jerking Car, Culprit FOUND!

My car is having some wierd problems and I tried to research this on google and using the search button on this site, but had no luck. When I was driving yesterday at around 70mph the car was "jerking" which felt like the throttle had been let up really quickly and then returned to normal (if you dont get that it felt like the car was being pulled backwards). I even traveled at speeds of 65 and 60 and it still did this. So I figure its something to do with the timing or the electrical. My distributor has the electronic ignition, I have a new alternator, new battery, new ignition coil, and new ignition switch. Any help is appreciated to solve this mystery. THANKS

remember that the entire electrical system goes through the starter solenoid, so if it is going bad, that can cause the exact problem you have. also make sure you have enough fuel pressure at speed as well.

sounds more like a suspension issue to me...i have a similar issue with my 68 and my tie rods are worn, so i figure that has something to do with it, along with worn steering componets...

I think I found the culprit. My brother (army mechanic) told me to check the fuel filter. And boy when I changed it out a dark red brown fluid came out. I should have bought a clear fuel filter in the first place, so now im sticking with them to know when to change them (changed it last summer, stupid me). Also that fluid was an indication that I have rust in my tank so now im going to either replace the gas tank or look for some kind of dissolvent. I wont be able to see if it works since after I started my car it began to shake really bad, which means that my carb is now gummed up.

I recommend replacing the tank as they are cheap and you may never get the old one clean. You will also have to flush you lines and the last thing is to clean the carb.
