JLT Cold air intake or JLT Ram air intake

if you read on their site the Cold Air made more power... nearly 20hp at redline... i think that might be a bit, read a lot, skewed but i did notice a seat of the pants change...

you dont have to worry about the air turning 90* before the maf w/ the JLT kit because it moves it into the fender... i love mine and pla on keeping it... im sure that on a dyno the RAI MIGHT make more power and thats because the hood is up and no heat is trapped under the hood....also if you have ever just poped the hood of you r car w/ it on after a 20 minute drive.... ever feel how hot the air is under there... well thats getting sucked in your motor when your sitting still... hto air is not good for power and it also will, in the end, cause a decrease in engine life, it might not be much but it does decrease... how about this... cold air ALL THE TIME or Cold air when rolling...

i like my Cold Air and had it painted DSG to match my car and its a perfect match.

Fenderwell CAI's are over rated... once the car is moving more than 10-15MPH the air intake temps between an in-fender and under hood unit are within a degree or two of each other. So your car at idle has more HP with an in-fender unit. Don't fall for the hype...

I'd like to hear your theory on how warmer intake air temps reduce engine longevity, if you have the time...

I have the JLT RAI...VERY happy with it :D

And I made a ram air system that blows cold air on the filter :nice: .

I have said it before... back about a year ago, JLT didnt offer the CAI version for the GTs, because it didnt make any power on the dyno. However that may have changed as they probably revamped it.

I really dont like ANY bends infront of the MAF...the air will compress slightly around a corner and will take a little bit to starighten back out....I just dont trust any of them.

BUT JLT ALL THE WAY...Absolutly AWSOME people.

i cant seem to make up my mind between the two i know i want a JLT which one will i see the most gains from with my mods including cams or will the gains be about the same?
Alot of people talk crap about JLT and his earlier problems with clearence issues on his intake. I believe those few problems have been corrected and Im happy with mine. I dynoed about 9 rwhp/tq with it when I adding it a couple of months ago. I say go with the ram kit as I dont like bends in front of the maf. I did make a cold air duct out of aluminum tubing that runs from the bottom of the bumper ( 99 cobra bumper, through the fog light assembly)up into the fenderwell and into the filter.Dont know if it adds anything, but it doesnt hurt either. Good luck.

JLT makes quality kits, there's no debate there. My only comment is that unless you want the clean under hood "Bling" that the painted CAI offers just go for the RAI instead and save some money because the power difference between the two at speed is miniscule.

the JLT doestn bend before the maf... the filter goes directly on the maf and the maf is relocated into your fender... AFTER the maf it does turn...
