I am about to install the JMC hydraulic clutch in my 68 and have a concern about the mounting for the master hydraulic cylinder. The cylinder in the kit for the 68 has the mounting flange ears vertical (bolts on top and bottom of the cylinder, not left and right side). When I located where the bolt holes need to be drilled on the firewall, I found the hole for the speedo cable directly above the clutch cylinder location only leaving about 1/2 inch of material. I'm concerned that once I drill the hole, this area will be too weak, even with the firewall backing plate that came with the kit. I spoke to the tech at JMC tonight who has installed many of these and he said it's not a problem, but I would like to be reassured by anyone who has installed this AND put some miles on it. Feedback as always is appreciated, pics would be great!
