We all get tired of our jobs, even if we love them, there are always those times where we want something else. If you become a cop, well, we know how happy cops seem to be. Maby right now the police pay what you make or a little more, but ten years down the road, you won't be making much more. Who knows, the right a-hole in office and you might make less. Your probally miserable in you job now, because your under a lot of people, so you get the work they don't want, I know how that feels. Stick with it, and you'll not only make more, but more rank and respect and you'll be much happier.

I make like 3/4's what I should have started out at. That is the main thing. I could make enough in real estate to own the building I work at- but I want a stable income I actually enjoy, oh well nobody said it would be easy
You already know my answer to this but I will expound on a few things:
Money doesnt always buy happiness. Not only does job performance decrease as an unmotivated employee, but you home life suffers as well. Sure, you may have to make some sacrifices to work in a field you love, but if it makes you happy then its worth it.
Remember, though, that police work is very time consuming. If you dont have a strong family life or if you are just holding things together, this job will tear it apart.

Dont feel bad man, i know it sucks, I got into web dev right after college and got about the same.
But, thats not what I went to school for. I am a diehard programmer. I changed careers fast when I got the opportunity. I dont feel that there is AS much $$$ in web dev than other area's of programming.
I now work on the weapons control system for the Aegis Destroyers. Its a lot of advanced stuff, and so I cant even imagine not calling my job challenging. I already got a promotion and im still not making the money I deserve. Im kind of in a similar boat, I would hate to leave, but I deserve a lot more compensation for my work.

So I'm thinking of this job mostly as getting paid to learn from highly skilled guys in hopes that I'll be that good in a couple of years. Well, I can tell you that the IT field is a good place to be and thats somewhere you can go with your degree if you are not there already. In the future you wont be limited to web dev. if you can, attempt to get into management or something else.
What are you web development skills? I mean, you know more than html right? I am proficient in Coldfusion, with Components, and also using FuseBox, and I would assume you know some DB, MySQL?

That's why it took me 7 years to get a 4 year degree... couldn't pay attention and it was all boring. I should have got a degree in physics or something
