Hi all,
Just trying to make sure I won’t create a conflict in my ride.
Having relocated the battery to the hatch and in an attempt no to have to open the trunk, removing the curtain, and removing the battery box lid to jump starting because of a low battery I simply opened the hood and did the jump started right at the main alternator charging bolt.
Now since I don’t move my ride because of the raining season I opted to place the smart battery charger at the same point (the alternator charging bolt). Everything seems to be working fine, but does anyone think it could be a problem doing it that way? If so please let me know.
Below are a couple of pics with the charger hooked on.
Thank you

That will be fine.

You will still need to look at your battery terminals when you pull it from storage.

They oxidize and some times, flat-out corrode like a mushroom farm.

They’ve been completely dry no residues or white rust and no stains whatsoever for like six or seven months, but I’ll follow your suggestion.
Thank you

Yeah, just keep an eye out.

If a battery leaks, even a little bit...

Happened to me. Battery box in the rear, silicone around the bolts in the bottom of the box and still, the acid found a way past the bolts. Not happy.

I’ll keep my eye on that, my battery is the so called sealed ones but they still have two venting points.
I’ve never seen a drop of acid out of my battery and hope it stays that way will be alert on that.
Thank you for sharing your experience

Maybe something like this hidden behind the rear bumper cover?

Remote Battery Jump Post Kit with 4AWG 4FT Cable | M10 (3/8") Bottom Wiring Studs

Relocate your battery terminals for easy access with the 4AWG remote jump post kit. Features M10 (3/8") bottom wiring studs and standard 20.2mm top posts for jumper cables. Ideal for Can-Am, RVs, and marine use.

That’s another option and I kind of like it, the down side in my case I that it would add one more thing to the engine bay and I’m trying to keep it clean with no more adds on. I might fabricate a positive borne with a cover bolted to the alternator charging bolt. That would be nicely hidden in there.
Thanks for the idea

Sorry I got it wrong I thought you meant to installing that inside the engine bay. I don’t like the idea of installing that at the rear bumper, my ride is a daily driver and will be afraid of a rear end impact causing a short circuit. Sorry about my misunderstanding.
