Having some gear issues with my 5-speed, 08' GT. I've had the car since November of 2007 and the car has approx. 9800 miles
Started having problems about three days ago. As soon as I put it into 3rd and let off the clutch it pops out of gear. Starting last night, 1st gear does the same, so I have only 2nd, 4th, 5th and Reverse.
Also, I'm hearing (as I have been for months) a metal clanking sound coming from the rear of the car. I've had the exhaust and suspension checked and never could find the source, but now that I'm having problems with 1st and 3rd, the sound has become somewhat louder. This makes me think there is a problem in the differential and/or the U-Joint.
Aside from that possibly related issue, I'm assuming this is a clutch or synchronizer problem? I'm going to take it to the dealer tomorrow and I'm worried about Warranty coverage. I have a cold air intake/ tune, Hurst short-throw shifter, short coil-springs and axelbacks. REALLY hate the idea of returning everything to stock and Ford still denying my Warranty coverage because of the low mileage and/or not so perfect treadwear on the rear tires. I think I'm just going to take it in as is and just see where the chips land.
Any thoughts or suggestions on this issue? Anyone ever have a similar problem with the newer Tremec tranny's? I remember the Borg Warner T-5's from several years ago and what pieces of absolute junk they were... uggghh. Here I go again.
