Hi Everyone, I used to spend a lot of time on this forum until life got in the way
I'm looking to install electric power steering in my '68 hardtop, and I would like to find an inexpensive OEM "junk yard" tilt steering column to use for the conversion. I will be splicing in the electric steering gear from a '12 Toyota Corolla and it requires hacking up the column. I am NOT in a big hurry to to hack up my chrome Ididit column, so I figure getting a junkyard column with tilt will be a better option.
What make/model/year vehicle has a similar steering column (floor shift, no ignition switch) with tilt? Come to think of it I could probably deal with a column that had the integrated ignition switch by welding in a patch over the ignition key opening. I figure a lot of 70's Ford/Mercury/Lincoln vehicles might work, but which ones? It would be nice to have a specific list to take to the local pic n pull.
Thanks in advance
