Before I started to restore my 88 EXP and was still driving it most people I ran into thought it was some sort of fox bodyScary how similar to a Foxbody Mustang those cars looked. That picture alone proves that.
Most had a bone stock sub 80hp escort motor. Rather guiltless indeed. The HOs were rather good, but still held back alot imo.My HS gf had the first generation, it was a dog. Always thought Ford kinda missed the mark with them. They looked kinda cool but didn't have any kind of performance to back it up....
I thought they looked rather similar. But I never had the chance to have both In front of me at the same time. The seats of the early Escort GT's were almost the same as '85/86 Mustang GT's, just less side bolsters and no adjustable thigh support - though they did have halos. I put a set in an '83 Mustang I had back in the mid 90s.
That is good to know. Now I wander about the seat rails. the EXP has some rather low profile seat rails. I know taller folks with escort GT's will fight over a set of EXP rails as they drop the seats a few inches. Yes inches, about 3 to be exact. The halo headrests I used in my car came from
an Escort. Same part

Yet if I say that, some around here wanna crucify me.Scary how similar to a Foxbody Mustang those cars looked. That picture alone proves that.
You give yourself too much credit,Yet if I say that, some around here wanna crucify me.
Oh, ya'll did when I compared the fox to the Escort and Cavalier visually. You give yourself too much credit,
