Would you run a PG (Power Glide) in your street car?

Why or why not?

Why only have 2 gears for the street. I would rather have an AOD. Oh wait....I do have one.
Just seems more for a race car on the strip all the time. Damn good for that.

Only being a 2 speed leaves a large gap between the gears. It would be like only having second and fourth gear. It has a direct drive and only one underdrive. Different gearsets can determine the underdrive but still, no range. You need a very powerfull motor with either a very wide broad torque curve or a really high stall. Otherwise the powerglide about the strongest tranny out.

Well, cars did come with them for years -- so I suppose it's definitely possible.

Though when people talk about them nowadays they are race transmissions with big stalls, brakes, etc.

Why I'am asking is because our C4 is on its way out.I got a PA C4 ordered, but there rated for 1000hp.And the C4 in the car now is built with decent parts (nothing lacking, other than its not rollerized),and it got about,100 street miles on it and 4 passes in the 1/8?

So you see why I might be worried. Not only that, but I got a set of wicked nasty heads that I will be bolting up soon (along with a solid roller cam).

Ah you answered my next question - I was wondering why the jump to a PG instead of a C4 or C6. Even the C's bother people (no OD) so the PG seemed extreme, but I see where you are coming from now.

I would venture to guess that something was wrong with the build of your original c4 if it was using high quality parts. The reason I say this is because my brother is running a c4 that I built with a 3400 stall. He is pushing 1100 hp at the wheels in his 67 coupe. He has well over 50 passes and drives it ocassionally on the street. He kisses my arse almost every time he breaks an axle or lca

Edit: My point is stick with the c4, that pg is gonna be hell on the street due to reasons already mentioned. Of course im also a big fan of overdrive, so I tried to talk my brother in to letting me build him a bulletproof 700r4 for him, but he didnt bite
