just a really quick question about lowering...

Hello all,

I just have a really quick question, and yes I have done my research; but no actual legitimate answer...

I am looking at the Ford B springs w/ maybe Tokico blues or KYB's(they say that they are designed for stock replacement only? Can I use the ford B springs without any ill effects?)

My question is: Will the Ford "C" springs offer the same drop as the "B" springs?

I am leaning towards the B springs because of the progressive front and back; and the "apparent" increase in ride quality....(DD)

But I also love the raked look of the "C" springs and hoping that the "B" springs offer the same drop/stance; and still retain ride quality

Anyways, any info/pics would be greatly appreciated

Thats what I always thought. I would love the drop of the C springs, but I would rather have the better ride of of the B's with the progressive fronts; which has the EXACT same Rate(lb/in) as the Eibach pro-kit

I heard somewhere that Eibach was owned by ford?? But I'm not sure about that.

Edit: The main reason I'm asking this, is because retailers that sale them do not have a consistent "drop". I've seen everywhere from .75in all around, 1.50 in the front with .75 in the back, and I just not came across 1.25in all around, etc. And I'm not going to spend money on shocks, wheels, tires, on a certain expected drop/look and not get it; you know?

You will sooner or later. Any drop is going to weaken the stock struts/shocks and cause them to go bad. You might as well do it right the first time and buy all the struts/shocks/springs/CC plates at once to save you the hassle.

Sorry about the confusion...

I meant that I have this perfect set up that I already have in mind except the springs: 8x9/18x10 Saleens, KYB's, and not really completely decided on tires....275/30 nitto's all around?

So the springs are the thing that I am questioning about.....leaning towards the Ford "B" springs....but I can not find any defiant answer on them; thus the reason for this thread...

See, I would LOVE to run the C springs, but I'm just really worried about the ride quality. I have researched these springs A LOT, and from what I have gathered; the ride quality is not that great (I know the ride is very subjective, and what is harsh to someone, could be soft to others); but in general, most said that it was not the best...

But, with out any straight forward facts on how the B springs will drop my car, then I guess I will have to go with the C's......I just really wanted the progressive fronts with the B springs.....and with 650 lb/in linear C springs, I'm looking at a harsh ride(which I really don't want), handling is great, but I would rather have comfort over performance as it will be my DD. I would rather have both, and if I could have both with the C or B springs; than I would much rather save the extra $100+ on Eibachs pro-kit or H&R racing......

you won't notice how crappy the ride is until you change the struts and shocks. Even cheapo tokicos made a big diffrence in my ride. i remember those bumbs like on bridges on highways, they use to make me bounce up and down on my seat when i rode over them at 75, 80 miles an hour with my sportlines on stock suspension. i took one at 90 once and i thought i was a goner lol

imho, if it aint sportline or supersport on a new edge, it doesn't look good.

I did A LOT more research, and I ruled out the B's, because of the lack of information.

Then I started considering C's, but still, it seems that they have dropped different mustangs at different levels(reverse raked, no drop at all, drop to the ground); so no no consistency there....

So then I said F it, 60-70$ more is worth it to go with H&R or Eibach Pro-kit, (please note, that I am looking for a "raked" drop, and lower it enough w/o having to use CC plates) And these springs (H&R/Prokit) have a level drop, but taking out the front isolators will give it that "raked" look

.......then I thought, since I'm spending this much, and could possibly/most likely have to use CC plates with this setup, thats 240 for the springs, 200 for the CC's, 300 for Tokico (500 for Tokico illumina's)......so about 740ish for that setup

So, basically I'm back to first base, looking at all kinds of combo's that offer a good ride, nice "raked" drop, and not bust the bank.

Heck, $750 is getting close to coilovers

So, right now, I'm either looking at cheap shock/strut spring setup w/o having to use CC's, or get out my piggy bank and start saving for coilovers or sportlines/super sports(playing the the Iso's to get the look I want). And then I have to factor in the ride, ahhhcrapola

I know that most will recommend coilovers, but the cheaper the better( and I know, you get what you pay for) But, I wasn't really looking to spend that much on suspension.....4.10s, subframes, bolt on's, upgraded sound system, wheels and tires, etc. Y'all see where I'm coming from?
