Ok I have a 67 mustang coupe 289 V8 2V and I was thinking how cool it would be if a new 2011-2013 V6 3.7 was put in it. It would increase my power by almost 100hp and gas mileage would probably be better that 30+ because the 67 is lighter. Is this a possible task? I know its a V6 not a V8 but it would a great show car and interesting car.

Best attempt I saw at combing the new and old technologies was the "SN65". Something along those lines would probably be easier...

resto mods are like fine art... to each their own.

some things are appealing to you and not to others.

personally i would like to see this happen just because everyone always does the newer GT or Cobra engines in the older cars, SN65 being the most popular and followed one ive ever seen.

I think it would be a cool project.Anything is possible. I would do my research ,because there will be fab work and it want be as cheap as a standard v8 build for sure. Good luck.

it can be done, and for a daily driver would be a nice combination. be prepared however to fab up your own engine mounts, deal with the computer harness wiring, etc.

I had the same thought for a '65-'66 conv. for the wife/daughter. I would swap over as much as I could - seats, dash, etc. for comfort and a long haul cruiser with more than stock power and mpg. I am not a fan of FI but I would need to keep it to get the mileage and comp. to work. There are a few '11 5.0 swaps going now, a V6 would be even more unique to me.

sounds like a great idea! I would love to see the 3.7 V6 in a classic.

The 3.7 I'm thinking is actually better and more powerful than any 289, 302, 351, and possibly 390
