I just yesterday baught my first 5.0. I had a 03 Gt, and currently have an 03 Cobra so I do know a little bit, but am kinda lost on the Fox. Here are some of the problems that I could use some advice on how and what to fix:
1. Extremely hard to get into gear after its been warmed up
2. Vibrates hard when accelerating, coasting isnt too bad
3. Clutch engages only about 1.5 inches off the floor
4. Leaking some coolant, Low coolant light started coming on and off, Temp fluctuated a little bit, but for most part ran right in the center of the gauge
5. Blows some smoke
6. No heat
7. Speed doenst work, guy said it was disconnected at the tranny? so how fast am I going in 5th at 2k rpms?
Here is what it has on it:
Full MSD Ignition
Edlebrock Performer Intake
Cold air Intake w/93 Cobra Mass air
BBK Headers
Bassani O/R X pipe
Flowmaster 40's
Chrome strut tower brace
NX Dry Kit
Eibach springs
Drilled Roters
Chrome Cobra R 17's with brand new rear tires
Cobra R hood
Red top Altima Batter
New Clutch
New Fuel pump

The body has some dings in it and the paint is, well 16 years old it has a 105k on it and it drives straight. I traded my 97 Ninja ZX7R for it straight out. Anyone with some advice I would appreciate it. Thanks.

1,3. Get an adjustanble cable, sounds like the clutch is not fully disengaging
2, check your driveshaft, you may have some loose bolts, but this could be any number of things. The guy before you obviosly had it out for the clutch swap.
4,6. Sounds like you might have a heater core issue, depending on where the cooent leak is, but given these two problems I would check it out.

5. Thats what happens when you run NOS. If its tired already and you out NOS on it, you probably have ring issues.
7. Depending on gearing. You are probably in the 70-75mh range with teh stoc gears, but I dont really rememeber.

your problem with the clutch not going into gear may be the clutch is not aligned properly. I had that same problem when I bought my mustang. The guy who had it didn't align the centerforce right and it would not always go into gear. It also wore itself an the flywheel so bad that I needed to replace the flywheel. I'd pull the transmission and re-align the clutch while it is still new. Check the motor mounts for vibration. He may have installed polyurethane or solid motor mounts. These are a plus, due to the low-end torque that fox's have. that vibration is better than slamming the engine and breaking a stock rubber motor mount. There should be a cable hanging on the driver's side of the tranny. There will be a gear attached to the end. find the hole and put it in, that should take care of your speedo problem. You have a 93 cobra mass air, so check the computer for the name "XCZ" These are the only computers that can be used with the cobra mass-air. The mass air on cobras are programmed differently from all other mass airs. If you do not have an XCZ, that could the reason you are having some of the other problems, like the excessive smoke. From the other cars you have, I believe that you know how important it is. If it is not working right, it will cause you problems. Most guys use the cobra mass air because it is a 70mm, but they do not know that the cobra computer must be used with it. If it is not an XCZ, buy another sensor that is calibrated for the injectors. I hope this helps

1. Synchro's worn, low on tranny fluid (could also be because your clutch isnt engaging all the way (#3)
2. Check U-Joints bolts, or for slack in the joints themselves (normal culprit) and at last, the driveshaft could be out of balance
3. see if you can see any slack in the clutch cable, then if that is tight, it might be the misaligned clutch.
4. check your overflow bottle for leaks. possible head gasket leak (which may cause the smoke in # 5)
5. rings (do a compression test)
6. heater core, (does the blower motor run when you hit the switch?) or he might have bypassed the heater core completely
7. If the speedo gear and cable isnt attached, i believe you would be losing tranny fluid. if he just had the cable bolted to it, without the gear on it, you can get a replacement gear pretty easy.
