hi all,
just picked up my 2010 GT last week. had to get rid of my 08 M3, too expensive.
so far this car seems just as fun to drive!!
pics of the old and new are attached.
look forward to being a part of what looks to be a great forum.

also, was looking at exhaust options and I can't figure out what to get, cant have it too loud. flowmaster axle back? 3 chamber? any advice?

lastly, I had an 89 LX 5.0, hatch, 5 speed, 3.73 back in the day! nice to be back finally!

Congrats on the new ride!

For mufflers I would go with Flowmaster American Thunder...from what I've heard on clips on youtube and other people on the forum it sounds great, which is why I'll be ordering mine soon

Welcome Back. Maybe there is a Mustang Club in your area and you can hear different setups live.

Just out of curiosity, what was the matter with the M3? Is insurance a bitch with it or something?

And congrats on the 'Stang, one thing that's nice about these cars is that they're reasonably inexpensive to make insanely fast and fun. You might know a little about that from your Fox!

thanks... I'd love to hear some in person.

problem with the M3 was it just got too expensive... car payments, rear tires, etc..

3 days so far in the GT and loving it.... even though the M was probably faster even in a straight line, the GT feels faster, and is funer, and louder!!

your M3 was hawt.... but the mustang should be considerably cheaper in many ways. welcome to the forums. try youtube for sound differences.... the only bad thing about doing it that way is that you cant really hear how loud the compare to each other...

Congrats on your new car!! And, with a set of just 3.73's (if U dont have them) the car will def run past your old car stock for stock, my friend has an 08 M and once I put my gears in it was over for him..haha You will love this car, I waited 10 years to buy another new car, and my 2010 GT was what I went with. .93 G's factory stock handling, and soo much nice-than-ever-before creature and quality additions these cars are great!! As far as exhasut is concerned I wouldn't start there, at least not w/ just axle backs, unless all you want is more sound..the BIGGEST power gains w/ these cars is to be had w/ a JLT cold air and a tuner/tune...you can ask anyone on the forums about that! It all depends what you want to do w/ your car, but w/ a JLT cold air, Tune, 3.73's or better and full exhaust expect a super fun, responsive 12 second car that can bury that 140 speedo in 4th gear anytime... Trust me, I started w/ a 2010 GT last spring and love everyday I get into it!! Congrats again on the car, and if you need any advice this forum is great too!!

Yes, you will enjoy the 2010. I agree that a tuner and exhaust will make you even happier. However, if you are like me, I want the "new" to wear off on my new GT before I start messing with it. My '07 had the exhaust and tune though and it halled ba*&s, when it ran.

thanks so much again for the comments.

the exhaust is really for the sound
I had flowmasters on my 89.5 lx 5.0 and although it was light years ago, i remember the sound was awesome....but not too loud as I had the 3 chambers..

what is JLT?? i will definetly look into that and the tune.
I don't want to void warranty or reliability, do any of these mods give trouble with Ford? and I don't want exhaust that is too loud with bad drone. On my 335i the sound was so terrible I couldn't drive on the highway anymore lol.

as far as crushing the M... that won't be easy to do.. on paper.. the m ran high 12's stock... I believe (my) stang with auto and no 3.73's probably runs high 13's at best?
however I do understand that getting her faster is easy and cheap, at lease compared to the M...

the cat back exhaust on my 335 (before the M), was $1900!!! the exhaust I wanted for the M was $2600.... crazy stuff...

anyways... no matter what, the stang feels 10 times faster than the M and is more fun to drive, at least on the street.

I'm thinking air intake, possible tune, and some not too loud mufflers is a good start??

are there any trusted sites that you guys buy from that has everything I'm going to be looking for?

Thanks again!!

I DIDNT KNOW IT WAS AN AUTO...BELIEVE IT OR NOT..THAT'S GOOD!! THE JLT IS THE BEST COLD AIR INTAKE FOR THESE CARS, IF YOU DO THAT, FULL EXHAUST, TUNE AND 3.73'S (WHICH WILL COST ALTOGHETHER INSTALLED LESS THAN JUST YOUR FULL M3 EXHAUST, LOL) THE CAR WILL BE 100% TAME WHEN U DRIVE IT NORMAL, BUT WHEN YOU PUT THAT GAS DOWN IT WILL FEEL LIKE A WHOLE DIFFERENT CAR THAN THE DAY YOU BOUGHT IT!!
YOUR GONNA LOVE THE AMAZING GAINS WITH MODS ON THESE CARS, BUT LIEK I SAID, I WOULD 100% START W/ THE SCT TUNER/TUNE/JLT CAI, THATS THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE FOR WAAAAAYY UNDER $1000!! JLT PERFORMANCE, Home of the JLT TRUE COLD AIR KIT <--- AND NO, I AM NOT WORKING FOR THEM, OR GETTING ANY REIMBURSEMENT FROM THEM, BUT LETS JUST SAY MY FRIEND HAS A SHOP AND WE COMPARED ALL OF THE COLD AIRS FOR MY 2010 ON THE MUSTANG DYNO AND THE JLT WAS A FEW HORSES AHEAD OF THE NEXT BEST ONE, AND THEY ARE ALL IN THE SAME PRICE RANGE, DON'T BUY AN OLD FAMILIAR NAME WHEN THEY GET OUTPERFORMED FOR LESS!! GOOD LUCK, AND IF YOU NEED ANY HELP OR ADVICE HIT ME UP, I'VE TRYED ALL THE BOLT ONS, AND YOUR CAR CAN REALLY COME ALIVE WITH A FEW THOUSAND BUCKS, AROUND THE SAME PRICE AS JUST THE EXHAUST YOU WANTED!!

Congrats on the new car. I would reccomend Magnaflow Magnapacks. I have there axleback, part number 16574. It sounds a lot better but is not too loud. Check out my video. I also picked up 8 hp, and 10 ft lbs of torque with this system.

thanks! that may be the way to go.

got it narrowed down to those and the flowmaster "moderate"...

so hard to tell from sound clips on computer though

had flowmaster 3 chambers on my 89 lx but man that was some time ago... I remember it sounded great....
have automatic now and had bad experience with drone (on my 335i) and it was unbearable... just don't want a problem again lol.

I have the same magnaflow and have nothing but good things to say, my brother got his from ebay but I wanted a valid warranty(I have had problems with ebay sellers before) so I got it here. Magnaflow 16574, or you can try one of the vendors here on the forum selling Magnaflow Exhaust, Magnaflow Muffler, Magnaflow Catalytic Converter, they are allways having sales/specials on the forums. It is nicely built and sounds great I think.

I owuld say magnalfows... and, they are stainless steel...last time I checked the flowmasters were just alumanized.. don;t quote me on that.. but just make sure.. and yeah, liek other said, maganflows have proven hp + on dynos again and again, and without being abnoxiously loud at normal driving...
