Just bought 95 Convertable

Im not positve but i think the GTS is the striped version of the GT, the lightest, no wing and some other stuff, im sure other guys can help you more.

To lighten, rear seat delete, remove dogbone, battery to trunk, remove smog and a/c. there is more but that should keep you busy for a while. :nice:

I don't think there were any GTS convertibles... it sort of defeats the purpose of the GTS. ANyway, congrats on the cra, you'll love it. Take time to do a complete tune up first and foremost, it will save you a lot of headaches. Also in addition to the weight reductions listed above there is a 25lb "convertible anti cowl shake" weight in the pass side fender right in front of the tire and directly behind the front bumper. You have to get under the car and look up into the fenderwell to see it. Its >25lbs and there are no adverse effects with removing it.

I just bought a 95' Gt/GTS convertable does anyone know what GTS is for? Anyway I am trying to think of ways to lightin up my car, have any recomendations?

show us some pictures...

unfortunately for you the Vert is one of the heaviest mustangs..

Good luck with it.. you'll love it in the summer

The GTS was a stripped down GT and there weren't any GTS convertibles made.

I take it you're looking at your proof of insurance? Mine from AAA says Mustang GT/GTS and I'm pretty sure that's because they are in the same category.

i think that the previous owner might have removed that 25lb weight from the front bumper. i say this cause my front bumper is a little wobbly from the bottom. is this normal? It doesn't have the black plastic that goes around the wheel.

So you can see straight up to the fender on the undernieth side. There should be a splash guard there or whatever you call it.

This may be a stupid question, but how do you remove the 25lb. weight? Is it just attached with some screws or what? Thanks.

you can look at killercanary and see what our verts can actually run. they are heavy but they still have potential with the right driver. mine is decent but is fun as hell in the spring/summer/fall and sometimes in the winter when i feel like it :D . enjoy

Verts rock

Some people hate on verts because they are heavier than coupes. SO WHAT?! They only weigh 96lb more than a coupe. It's not a WHOLE lot! Besides, if you're a lightweight driver like me, most other guys got a good 50 pounds on you! Anyway, I have a 94 GT convertible, and I love it. I'll put the top down on winter days too, that's why they have heaters! So enjoy it man. Besides, having the top down just makes it easier to show people your smile as you fly by them. :D

Congrats on the purchase, you will love the vert. We all love ours. I just wish I could put the top down without getting insta-frostbite.
If you posts some pics of you ride we could tell you what it is. There were no gts verts as stated above but I wish there were. A gts looks alot like a v6 car but has a v8 in it. If your car looks like a v6, is a vert and has a 5.0 then you got a v6 vert with a V8 engine swap. That would be cool too. :nice:
Pics would be great. Welcome aboard...

congrats on the vert! tons of fun. who cares about the weight. if you're serious about the track then...WHY DID YOU GET A VERT! enjoy the street, the sun, the fresh air! its great!

not let me get this straight... there are TWO! weights on a vert? the dogbone in back and "convertable anit cowl shake" weight up front?!? well there's 50 lbs right there i've gotta pull off.

Congrats on the purchase. Our verts may weigh a little bit more, but theres nothing like puttin the top down on a nice day!

you can't have a sunday cruise at the beach without the top down.

i get claustraphobic when the top is up.
