Hey everyone. I just picked up a 2001 Covert. Cobra with Performance Red Exterior and Dark Charcoal interior. It is all stock and was very well taken care of. I paid 15,988 for it with 30,000 miles. Tell me what you think. As I have heard from many of the posts I do get some notchy shifting only when cold (double clutch to avoid grinds until warm) and once in a while a slight bump from the rear. The seats are awesome and it handles and brakes very well. The top goes down in under 10 seconds and can be easily done by one person. The only thing I may add is an exhuast and some rear end gears to shorten the long ass gears.

Maybe he's used to a car like the Pontiac Solstice that has a manual convertible top? That's definitely a 2 person job, unless you're a strong man hahaha.

Yeah you just press a button. very easy. Its my first convertible so it was pretty cool.

Looks really clean, nice color choice as well.

Hopefully you don't run into any problems with the transmission. It's a T-3650 and there is a HUGE issues thread on this forum if you look around for it. Might want to check and make sure the fluid isn't low.

I agree with the others though, if u decide to mod the car, lowering springs & better struts/shocks would be my 1st mod....

Nice score, its what I was looking for when I got my GT. But alas a 99/01 Cobra is hard to find and I wasn't exactly that patient but I did look for a couple of months first.

Thats not double clutching. Thats speed shifting. Thats the fastest way to get a modern transmition into the next gear but it is hard on the transmition.

The shifter, rather than going straight to the next gear, makes a stop in neutral and then the clutch is released. This is to allow the engine to slow down (or with a tap on the gas, speed up when downshifting) so the transition into the next gear is much more smooth. The driver then depresses the clutch again and completes the shift into the target gear, and finally the clutch is released again, putting the car back into gear. It only takes a split second for the engine speed to match the speed of the gears, so the entire action is done very quickly as a fluid sequence of events.
