Made a post in 5.0 talk so I'll just copy and paste LOL.

Well I just bought a 5spd 89 GT Convertible. Its red with black top and it has 95k miles on it. The car is CLEAN especially for an Indiana car. Doors, fenders, strut towers are all perfect on it. The only little bit of rust is on the inside of the trunk there is a 2" part that has a little surface rust.

Im seriously so excited I won't be able to sleep to night because I go pick it up tomorrow.

The car is bone stock other than filter and full exhaust. It does have a pretty heavy clutch in it that I'm going to pull out and replace with a more friendly street clutch.

I'll have pics tomorrow afternoon or night depending on how long I drive it. LOL

Sweet man.

My buddy had an 89 (IIRC) GT vert, but it was an auto. Probaly the slowest 8 cylinder Mustang i'd ridden in, but it did look good when he was done with it, lol.

5 speed makes the equation so much sweeter.

HAHA yea dude everybody keeps saying that. No one can understand why Im so excited about a 19 year old car that prolly runs high 14s. Its just something about the foxbody that I just love. I tried buying one before I got my 04 and my cousin backed out. Two days after I bought my 04 he tells me he whishes he would have sold it to me.

I drove the car tonight and absolutely fell in love with it. I wanted to get the money tonight but the bank was closed so first thing tomorrow I hittin the bank.

I have plans for it but the motor is going to stay pretty much stock, maybe a small shot of nitrous. Im going to do a custom paint job this winter and kind of turn it into a sweet driver/show car.

Hell it runs 87oct and gets 20+mpg which is better than my Exploder. It will be my DD for this summer.

Nice! Congrats, have fun with it. But...a bike would get ya better mileage, and is just as useful as a vert

HAHA Yea and be alot faster too. The only problem is bikes scare the hell out of me. I love to ride them but I've seen so many friends wreck and get hurt on bikes its crazy. The worst part is 90% of them were do to other drivers not paying attention.

The car will give me a little more protection so I'll stick with my 5.0 for now. LOL

I'm the same, bikes don't scare me its just the idiots that don't pay attention to you. Can't wait for pics of the vert. I'm trying to buy a 91 5.0 coupe that has 78,000 miles if the guy will make up his mind on selling it to me or not. The only thing is it is an automatic, but that will change if i get my hands on it.

If anybody knows anyone selling a clean 5.0 Vert let me know.

I'm actually thinking about selling my Mustang and buying one and build it from the ground up (paint, interior, motor, suspension, ect) which is something I always wanted to do. Nothing crazy for performance just a nice driver that will turn alot of heads and run decent (13s or12s)

Selling your built engine/auto 10 second clean stang for a huge loss to buy a 5.0 to get into the 12's/13's which when you sell wont be worth more than what you put into it anyways. Plan of the century indeed

So am I hearing this right? Your thinking about selling your 10 sec GT to buy another 5.0?

Man everyone who goes crazy with mods always ends up selling them just after they finish a huge build....thats why im leaving my cobra alone now and havnt done anything too it for a while. I dont want this strange thing to happen to me....screw a KB/whipple, im paying it off and then buying a house.

The thing is I'm not looking to make money on the project.

I'm just kind of tired of the racing scene. Its expensive hobby to say the least, it usually costs me $100+ to go to the track when you add up the fuel to get there and back, then $20-$25 to race, and then lunch and/or dinner on the way up or back. Then the parts when something breaks, hopefully nothing else will , I'm just kind of tired of it. Plus now I can only get 1-3 runs in before getting kicked out unless I put a cage in the car which I won't do. I also need new tires now for the rear and that is another $225+ and I have to change the sparkplugs in the car after every 2-3 tanks of race fuel (1 month) because the plugs start to go bad which is $50 every time. I think if I lived closer to a track I wouldn't have a much of a problem.

You also get nothing for having a 10sec car. It was always a dream of mine and I did it and now I realize other than the number on the slip there really isn't any difference. I was all excited when I ran 10s and it is VERY COOL to say you have a 10sec ride BUT most people don't even understand what a 10sec car is and could care less if the car goes 10s or if it goes 15s.

When I drove that 89 Vert its was just nice driving a car that I've always wanted, that was good looking, a stick, and the fact it was getting 20+mpg on 87oct wasn't to bad either. Plus insurance is CHEAP full coverage is $300 a YEAR for me.
