Just picked up a 5 speed '94 GT! Stock motor with exhaust, shifter, the usual bolt-ons

The car was sitting for 2 years before I drove it home, what kinds of things should I take a look at after sitting that long, aside from the gas, before I start driving it around?

i would definitely get a full tuneup.. you can get the whole kit from fordsource for $80.

change oil, tranny fluid, coolant, brake fluid

also i would clean your maf using an electronic cleaner thats safe for sensors.

I'm with the guys. Give it a bumper to bumper inspection, checking all fluid levels and replacing them all (the trans and rear end fluid could be the last two to be changed, probably).

If needing ideas for things to inspect and swap, check the service interval section of the repair manual - those tend to hit the biggies. Then run through the tune-up chapter of the manual (i.e. Chapter 1 in Haynes).

Good luck.

take it back to the guy you bought it from and get your money back. once you start modding/upgrading it, it becomes and addiction.

take the blue pill

welcome to the addict's club

congratu ****ing lations. You won't regret getting a mustang. Mustangs are what lifes all about man. Fast mustangs, doin' mods, pickin up chicks in mustangs....yeah dude. You made a good choice in getting a mustang. especially a 94. the new style with the venerable small block ford, you made a good choice. ok, i think I'll stop typing now since I'm a bit inebriated. G'nite and have fun with your mustang. Fun is what it's all about.

Thanks guys!!!!!!

It's White with a black cloth interior - i'll try to snap some pics once i run it thru the car wash (it's 26 degrees in NYC here now). It's actually my second mustang, my first one was a '95 GT Forest green/tan leather, i got it at 138k and it was just fine till I sold it at about 201k!

I put about 10 or so miles on the '94 today, it felt pretty good, aside from the exhaust smelling funky from the 2 year old gas, and a little vibration at 40 or so mph - flat spots on the tires maybe? do they go away over time?

Be sure to check the harmonic balancer while the engine is running - make sure it's not wobbling. You can search on the forums here to find all sorta threads about it.

Congrats on the 'stang... I'm on my 2nd and 3rd one and still love them.
