How long do you guys think it will take me to swap out my T5 setup for a C4? 66 coupe, 302, exhaust is already removed. The time will be for a complete swap, drive it in the garage with the T5, back it out with the C4. I will be using only hand tools, and doing it in my garage, so no lift or other fancy equipment.

I swapped my T5 in about 8 hrs. Of course that included running the clutch cable (which was the biggest PIA--Hooker headers, nuf said) and mounting the clutch pedal. I would think it would take you less to swap a C4 back in? I don't know, I'm a total newbie, but worked in my garage with no fancy tools, etc. but did have a friend there half the time, which was a big help. Will you have the correct length driveshaft to put in? Wouldn't you have to re-measure to get the right length once you put the old C4 back in?

I was going to say 8-12 hours depending on your skills. What always kills the time-to-complete for me is the runs to the parts stores for stuff I didn't have or know I needed, take that time out and hit the low side. Going from a T5 to an auto will make the clutch easier but you'll also have to plumb for the fluid lines and install a new radiator or an auxillairy cooler.

swapping back to a C4 so I'll be more competitive in bracket racing. I'll be eliminating a huge variable (me), so hopefully it will be more consistent. I'm gonna hang on to the T5 setup in case I ever put it back on the street.

The third pedal will be left hanging until I get some time to remove it, and find another auto trans brake pedal. Driveshaft length should be ok, I only had it shortened 3/4" when I swapped to the T5, then I later installed the 9" rear which has a slightly longer yoke, so i think it will all even out in the end.

I imagine it will take a good Saturday's worth of time, 8 hrs is probably about right.
