hey guys this is my first post and i wanted to ask some newbie questions. I just bought a black 95 gt vert 5 speed. Mods are as follows: rebuilt 93 motor with forged pistons, f303 cam (288 duration 512 lift), pulleys, dual exhaust with h-pipe and flows, gears from an automatic 3.08s??, and timing advanced dont know how much though... I dont know much about this car or these mods but it seems to be fairly quick. I know the vert is heavy and all but what kind of 1/4 times should i expect with this? I plan on getting the cobra upper and lower which should help the car really breath. WIll i be able to hit 13s after the intakes? thanks and sorry for the newbie questions!

1st off, Welcome to the board. Ive got a couple questions for ya.

Why a rebuilt 93 an not a rebuilt 95 motor? our computers are sensitive and wont be liking that 93 too much.
Why such short gears?? If you want to get gears but not all about the tall gears, get some 3.55s.Oh, the vert you have has 3.27 gears in it.

Welcome.
You will not hit 13's with the intake. Your times I suspect would be mid 14's.
You will need headers, intake, 3:73 or 4:10's, and some heads or a power adder to hit the 13 mark.

the computer dont know what block you have. Plus there is no difference between the blocks at all. Unless he used different sensors, but most of the sensors are teh same anyway

welcome!.....

...the motor shounds healthy....im not really sure about vert 1/4 times but i would say high 14's with those mods....you may want to step up to a shorter gear like a 3.73 or a 4.10 to help get her off the line nice.....idk if they took the 25lb weight out of the front bumper or not....but thats a vert only thing so you may want to look for it.....

I would switch to the 3.73 for the more get up and go feeling. Try and set your timing at 14* and run 91 or 93 octane depending on what available to you. Out computers are very sensitive to big cams so be careful of it will start to surge really bad and will not like to idle. Welcome to the boards.

thanks for the replies guys..like i said i dont know anything about this car so i dont know why he did the certain things he did with it. I will think about the gears though. I guess the car just isnt as fast as i thought it would be. mid high 14s though would be better than what i used to drive...ford escort lol.

Your best bet would be to go out and see what times it runs so you'll know where you stand. Then get a set of 3.73 gears which you will love, and go from there.
Welcome to the boards. You might not know much about your car now but if you keep reading all of these posts you'll catch on in no time!
Good luck with the car!
Mike

Oh and by the way if the rear end (and gears) are from an automatic car then they are either 2.73's or 3.27's.
