Just got a 98 GT(WARNING: N00b Q's inside!)

if you didnt get the wheel upgrade package....i am guessing he has cloth seats and no mach 460 either....

Yeah, I have cloth and a PITIFUL stock electronic cassette/CD combo:mad:. Speaking of which, would it be hard to put in a Mach 460 into my car? Does it sound much better than the base system? I have the Mach Audio Package in the Expedition and it absolutely rocks!

BTW, thanks for the heads up on the tire sizes.

dont worry about posting newby questions , we wont bite.....
Or read, he said he changed the mounts and it is fixored  n00b

:D JK mang :nice:

But to the OP dont bother with the Mach install. Get a good Pioneer or whatever brand you like and some good 6x8 coaxials like Infinity or JL and a small sub and amp combo, 8" Bazookas do nice for space and sound if you dont wana mess with a box and have it easy to pull out. JL also makes a nice stealbox for it too. :nice:

dont get a mach system, it blows chunks. my car came without it and i am glad. i did somewhat of a custom install. i have a pioneer deck with alpine 6.5" type r components front and rear. to me the best audio installs are not the ones with the crazy fiberglass enclosures, but the ones that you cant tell that they are not stock. i will snap some pics for ya..

welcome and congrats on your new stang, here are a few reccomendations

1. PI swap first
2. exhaust. go on youtube and listen to about a million clips and you'll find something you like.
3. gears and tuner. dont be a pvssy, get some 4.10s youll thank me later. as for the tuner, stick with either sct or diablosport
4. short shifter. steeda triax or mgw, dont bother with anything else
5. at this point you should be in need of a clutch. i have a spec stage 2 and its more than sufficient. keep your stock flywheel
6. start thinking about some functional appearence mods, like some new rims and bigger stickier tires, and lowering springs

this should give you a mid 13 second car thats very streetable and fun to drive, compared to the mid 15s it probably runs now. the main thing i would suggest is to stay away from the cheap bolt ons like pulleys, cai, and throttle body/plenums. they are worthless in my opinion. as for the stereo, look on ebay, occasionally there is a mach1000 for sale. thats what i have and its a damn clean sounding system. it blows the 460 out of the water.

Awesome!
Thanks guys, I am defenitely gonna enjoy this car. A couple of my friends are going to the track next week with their Honda Accords and Nissan Altimas, I'm gonna come along and see how she runs. Again, thanks for all the tips... Everytime there is a fat new check in the mail, I'll just refer to this thread and instantly know which mod I should splurge on next!:)

BTW: thanks for the audio pictures and insight. I think i'll keep it stock for now... During the last couple of days I've only been listening to the rumble of the 4.6.
