I just picked up a block Saturday night. The guy I bought it from said he got it a few years ago from Summit for 350 dollars. Anyone have any info on these blocks ? Were they made by Ford? If so, where do I find the casting number?
usually the casting number is down where the starter goes, on the passenger side of the block near the bottom at the back of the block. If its aftermarket, i have no idea, if it was only 350 bucks, it was most likely a factory block.
Fourth indicates the engineering group;
A=Chassis group
B=Body Group
E=Engine Group
If the item is a servie part, the fourth position then indicates the applicable division;
Z=Ford Division
Y=Lincoln-Mercury
X=Origional FOrd Muscle parts program
M=Ford Motorsports SVO or Ford-Mexico.
FOur digit number indicates the basic part number;
F19E B8
"F" tells you its from 1990-1999
"1" tells you what year in the 90's its from, so its a 91'
Im not sure what the 9 means, you sure its not a letter, it should be a letter...THen the E just tells you its from the Engine department. The BB part just indicates the revision under the part number, like A means its the origional form of the part, B indicates its the first revision, C indicates the third and so on....The first four digits always use that method to decifer them, Such as C9OE or whatever tells you its from the 60's, a 69 to be exact, then O means its out of a Fairlane or Torino and E tells you its from the engine group....Sorry for that long post...Hope that helped you.
