It's an early 97 (GT40 non-P) with 128K miles on it. I've never torn into an engine before, any tips for installing new bearings and rings? I'm gonna stick with the stock pistons. It supposedly runs great, but I already have a good running 302 in my car now, I was a like-new 302 to replace it with.

I also want to clean the heads up and have them gone through by a machine shop. How much does it usually cost to have new guides and seals (or whatever) done? How about a 3 angle valve job? I live near Jacksonville FL, so if any of you know someone good to take them to for a descent price.

One thing that sucks is I got a later upper without the EGR passage, but the lower has the hole in the center. How can I plug that hole or cover it? I'm sure someone has ran into this problem before.

Thanks!

Also, which cam would you recommend that will have a nice lope, play nice with the computer, and be a descent turbo cam?

It was $300 to have my valve seats cut and the heads hot tanked and cleaned...

IMO a TFS 1, Steeda 19, E303, B303

would all be nice mild cams for ya... HOWEVER... you brought boost up... play well with the stock computer... and boost are 2 different end of the spectrum... No matter what to get the best out of the engine you will want a tune regardless 94/95's can be a pain when it comes to playing well with a cam.

I will say I've seen some say the F cam works OK with turbos

I'd not sink too much money in those old OEM iron heads

They got really thin decks for a power adder combo

Something as outdated as the older Aluminum GT40 versions would
offer you benefits over the iron thin decked heads

I'd not worry about the pcm

Just self tune or chip it

Now about you wanting to have that ... Sound at idle

Any non stock cam is gonna lope a bit
