Just got KB Super Subs. I thought they would be longer

I just got the kenny brown super subs with cross braces. There about 4 feet long, maybe a little longer. I thought they were suppost to be longer, or is it me. Aren't they suppost to go from the firewall to the rear torque boxes and connect the subframes together. Or is that 4 feet or so long enough to do that.
