Just got the 5.0 back from getting bored 30 over, line bored, balanced, and all that good stuff. Got the crank, cam bearings, and KB flat top pistons already installed. So far that's the only parts I've purchased for the motor. I want the car to be streetable but be able to whoop up some real heat on the street. Planning to get a 2800 stall convertor and a set of 3:55 gears. For the engine I have planned a F303 cam, AFR 165 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, MSD power blast coil/Petronix ignition, edelbrock rpm performer intake and 600 holley carb. anyone got any disagreements/advice/comments about the set up, maybe there is something i should change before I follow through with the project?

I'd say get a better cam but othewise sound like a good setup. Congrats.

Thanks. what other cam do you reccomend ( other than a custom grind ) for good midrange power like the F cam?

xe270hr from comp will be much better then the F but you will probably have to upgrade your springs on the afr165s unless you upgraded them when you bought them.

f cam is for forced induction . it wont be good for the midrange power your combo has

so the xe270hr is a good cam huh? whats the lift and duration on it? LSA ?
i ehard about these energy cams from comp cam being good. but i know nothing about them

Go to the comp page to get the exact specs you can get it in 112lsa or 114 depending on your application.
