Hello everybody,

I just had my transmission rebuilt at Cottman Transmission, I had the complete rebuild minus gears. Everything shifts fine so thats not the problem. The problem is i hear a slight sort of clicking sort of whirring type of sound that goes away even if I touch the clutch pedal a little bit. So my questions are:
1. Could this be the throwout bearing, it wasn't doing anything before I brought it in and I even went for the ride with the mechanic when i first brought it in and it wasn't making any noise then.

2. Also is there a certain amount of time I should wait to break in the transmission or is it ready to go?

Thanks for the help everybody.

could be the bearing rattling a bit on the bearing retainer, my 93 did that with 20k miles.

I definately considered getting a tranny off of jegs for 1400 but I am on a budget and I ended up paying 1200 and the tranny shifts like butter now. I am not planning on doing any serious modifications at this time anyway. I also had new o2 sensors put in, a new speedogear, and a new starter all for 1200 so i can't complain about that. I was just wondering what the noise could be, its not even very loud but just curious.

did you install the tranny????? do you have an factory or firewall adjustable clutch..and if you installed transmission if so did you insure you put the throw out bearing on properly the clip on the clutch fork is supposed to clip into throwout bearing i have seen people put the throw out bearing into the clutch fork without placing it into the clip properly and/or was the clip in good working order????

the tranny was installed and rebuilt by Cottman. I am still going to bring it by there and have them check it out, i have a 90 day warranty on it so i might as well use it.

Throw out bearings can be VERY tempramental. I NEVER reuse a TOB when doing a clutch install, for the $30 its not worth the aggrivation. If the tranny guy didnt replace the TOB then that could be the problem. I do believe that most tranny shops replace the TOB no matter what. If its a new bearing then maybe you just got a bad one or one that makes a little noise.
