Just installed 17x8s on my 65, some Q.s

Okay, so after researching I found I needed 25mm front and 30mm rear spacers to fit 01 Cobra 17x8s on my 1965 289. The install was easy and they all fit fine when the car is parked and pointed straight.

The problem I have is rubbing of the front lower part of the fender when I turn the wheels.

I know I need new springs b/c I am still running stock everything suspention wise and I'm sure it is sagging badly. (It looks great though!)

So my question is, What springs should I get to give me some more room up front? Stock Replacement or will 1" lowering springs still be highr than my 40yr old springs?

What are the alignment specs you are running on the car?
Have you performed the shelby drop to the upper arms?

I hav 235/45/17s up front with no rubbing...

The suspention is totally original/stock. But I suspect the springs are sagging a lot.

If I tooks some measurements would that help?

I thought I would put the wheels on before I purchased any springs to see what I needed to do.

The wheels and tires are the stock wheels from my 01 Cobra, so I'm am running 245/45R17s front and rear. I know thats a little big up front, so the easiest way might be to buy some smaller fronts. The backs look fine, and it looks like I could actuallly go abit bigger, say 255-265 maybe

The 245/45R17s have a 25.7" diameter.
But 245/40R17s have a 24.7" diameter. So thats an extra .5" of clearance.

Looks like I've got some numbers to crunch.

Would it help if you rolled the fender? I remember when I put my new springs on (supposedly 1" drop) the front sat a good 3" higher than stock, had to cut em' down.

The reasons they do not rub is the fact that I have the upper a arm lowered, and run -2 camber and the car is lowered quite a bit

Lower the a arm changes the way the tire acts on turns. Essentially instead of tipping out at the top on turns with stock locations arm and alignment, the top of the tire tips in on turns.

Im running 225/45/17s up front with about a 2.5"-3" drop- no rubbing- and my fenders are not rolled-

In fact the top of the tire is tucked into the fender- it gets very very close- but no rub
