just installed new WATER PUMP

Yep just installed new FMS water pump not to hard just took off the fan and, serp belt.the rest just bolted off took me 2 hrs cuz i never done it before.Not to hard something someone could do on their own. But what i dont understand is why my serp belt shrunk? was it cuz it was wet and shrunk with the heat?

By the way the my car does keep much much cooler engine runs smoother as well

Congrats on the install...

Did you put on a different pulley on the water pump...that would cause the tightness...

yeah, i dont get what you mean or how you know it shrunk. please explain.

I am sure your belt did not "shrink". It is more likely that you don't have the belt on the pullies in the correct fashion or that you didn't pull the tensioner up far enough when you put it back on. The spring in the tensioner in my car is really strong, I have to use a breaker bar & socket in order to hold it up while I put the belt on.

What shape was the old waterpump? If it had a bad berring then maby the shaft sat slightly in a different location and now it's where it should be so of course the belt would seem tighter, thats all I can think of.

no really i mean like it shrunk when i first took the belt off it was fine when i tried to put it back on even moving the belt tenshioner it didnt fit. so i went to AUTO ZONE and got the exact same brand belt the old was like 4 5 inches shorter dont ask me how or why but it really was

The belt didnt shrink, thats nearly impossible, your missing something, possibly a bypassed smog pump?

no because i made sure the the belt tenshioner was up all the way AND THE BELT WAS ON ALL THE PULLIES a friend came over to help me out and he didnt believe it either hes a certified FORD tech i called him after work he came over and even he scratched his head on it he said he's never seen anything like it

well actually the water pump went out close to home so it did get hotter then ussual but. but to answer your quetion YES it is it's a FORD MOTORSPORT high volume water pump

what i just posted really didnt make sence but what i meant was it heated up more then usuall but it didnt heat up to much the needle went up to half way when i drained the radiator it still had kinda alot of fluid

Congrats on the new water pump. I posted when I replaced my power steering pump, even had a nice pic, noone cared

Is your wear indicator showing tighter than before? The belt usually seems tighter right after putting it back on, then after it runs a bit it settles back in.
