I just finished lowering my '89 GT today with H&R road race springs from MM. I've got 17x8s up front with 245/45s and 17x9s in the rear with 275/40s. I used to have occasional rubbing problems in the rear. I would either get rubbing while cornering (on the chassis itself) or when going over bumps (the tires would rub the fenders). I put on 1/4" spacers in the rear, which alleviated the rubbing on the chassis. (I am going to install a panhard bar and LCAs in the next month or so to fix this problem "the right way".)

So, I figured if I went with stiffer springs and shocks/struts, I would have less room between my tires and fenders, but I'd have less suspension travel too so the car wouldn't rub anymore. Well, I was wrong. Following the install of the stiffest H&R springs I could get for my car and some Tokico Illuminas set to the stiffest setting, I still get rub. And it's a LOT more frequent, especially in the rear. Now I get some minor rub in the front too, and that's just in a couple of miles of driving.

In the rear, I can roll my fenders, I'm sure. But up front, the tops of the fenders don't look like they can really be rolled. Now I've never rolled fenders before so I'm looking for all the advice I can get for alleviating my rubbing problem altogether. I wanna be able to run the sh1t out of my car on the autocross track or the street and not have any more rubbing problems.

So those of you who know suspension, please comment. Thanks!
