Just not running right, help?

Ok so heres whats going on, occasionally I get the low coolant light, then add in more coolant, a month or two later it gets a little low again and I have to add some more. My car also seems to have a lot of white smoke coming out of the tailpipes. Lastly, and very rarely I will start up the car and drive it, when I take it up over about 2k or so it pings really bad if you try to accelerate, all I have to do though is turn off the car, turn it back on and then it will run fine.

Thinking maybe I'm loosing some coolant at the head gaskets, could they have a slow leak like that? Does that explain the pinging though?

If you are getting white smoke in the tailpipes, your HG is likely going on it's way out. Have you checked your oil lately? I bet it looks like milk chocolate, which means replace HG now.

Some have had luck by adding alumaseal to the radiator, but fwiw I would replace the HG if it's leaking.
