Just ordered my new valves, I ordered 2.02 but now I have a question,

Ok,

I just dropped off my GT-40 Aluminum heads at the machine shop to be re-surfaced and have the new valves and seats cut,

However,
I noticed there was enough space to fit a 2.02 intake valve,
Now I just got off the phone to summit and ordered them, along with the new exhaust valves,

something just clicked in my head,

WILL THEY HIT THE PISTON?

I dunno why I just thought of this now,
But will 2.02 hit the piston?

All mods in Sig,
Lemme know

Not 100% sure,but I think you're gonna have clearence issues. The stock pistons are only cut for the 1.9 valve. Trick Flow had to rotate the valves for a 2.02 to work on a stock shortblock.

I read that about trickflow,

However they only said that due to people running wild cams,

Im only running the stock cam and 1.7 roller rockers,

Should I just cancell the order and get the 1.94 intake valves?

A lot will depend on the lift and duration of your camshaft.

well its the stock cam and stock lift,
And I dont plan on running any other cam other than stock,

You'll have to refesh my memory on the stock cam. But here is what you can do. Isky makes a cutter to cut the valve reliefs in pistons using your cylinder head valve guide to align the tool. You will only be removing a small amount of material, maybe a gram or two, so it will not require rebalancing.

anyone got the specs of a stock cam?


Im just hoping this will be ok,

seriously would I see much more power increase going with 2.02 over 1.94?

If its going to be a pain in the arse ill just get the 1.94's

But I gotta know by monday so summit can change the order

if the clearence for your pistons are ok, the only other reason you may want to consider 194 is valve shrouding effect.......with 2.02's......especially in heads desighned originally for 184's i used to think a 2.02 was the way to go but with valve clearance issue's, and valve shrouding in heads not originally equiped for them, plus with so many people making major power with 194's or even 1.90's......i think i'd only go for 2.'2s if i got the wedge heads....because thier desighned that way, for all the other stuff 194's or 1.90's are plenty with less headaches........but thats just me......

The heads are designed for 1.94's

I had a machine shop put a chevy 2.02 valve in and they said its fine,

The only worry I have was piston to valve clearance,

would I really just be better off with 1.94's?

Or will the 2.02's be ok and just carry on with the order?
Like I said, Stock Cam, Stock Lift, 1.7 Roller rockers

Stick with the 1.90's. We have 1.90 intakes and run 7.988 et in the 1/8 mile.

Ill have to give summit a call,

I mean if I were sticking stock cam Im sure they will be ok after what Ive seen in mags etc,

I see people having 2.02 intake valves on a lot of heads,
So everyone thats had them has had to have there pistons notched even more?
